Konica Minolta presents the results of social implementation in the Kansei Research Project led by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

In April 2019, the Center of Innovation (hereinafter referred to as COI) was launched as a national project led by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to promote research on emotional brain engineering based on existing brain science. Leading universities and companies, including Konica Minolta, participated in COI and conducted various social implementation activities. Konica Minolta announced an example of creating a new package using sensibilities for Yoshino Miso Co., Ltd., a long-established company in the food and beverage industry.

A special feature was published in the October 2019 issue of the Printing and Publication Society of Japan's print magazine with the title "Emotional evaluation of decorative printed packaging that touches consumers."
The results of a sensitivity evaluation conducted on packages with decorations such as varnish or foil to measure their appeal to consumers are published.


Kansei Project member appointed as visiting professor at Hiroshima University

Kansei project members Mr. Uratani and Mr. Inoue were recognized for their external implementation project results in Hiroshima, and were appointed as visiting professors and visiting associate professors of Kansei and Brain Engineering. He conducts regular research and lectures at universities and continues to expand his knowledge.

Official presentation of social implementation examples using sensibility at Imaging Conference JAPAN 2022 (Imaging Society of Japan).
We also introduced a prototype version of the image analysis software Explainable KANSEI, which has been very well received as a next-generation image technology.


“Visualization of sensibilities” seminar co-sponsored by Osaka Design Center

We held a seminar on visualizing sensibilities in collaboration with Osaka Design Center, a major design platform in the Kansai region. With the participation of various manufacturers, we provide a cheat sheet that can be used effectively in marketing by unraveling the before and after of practical designs from an emotional perspective. After the four events ended, the customer value of Explainable KANSEI was confirmed, with participating companies seeing a threefold increase in sales due to design improvements.

Explainable KANSEI was introduced as an innovative design technology in the latest technology introduction corner of the morning program "Oha Biz" on October 5th.


Exhibiting at IGAS 2022

Exhibited at International Graphic Arts Show 2022 (IGAS2022), one of the largest international printing exhibitions held once every four years. A seminar was also held jointly with Morisawa Co., Ltd., while the media and visitors were interested in this technology as it was the newest technology in the entire exhibition.

At the International Medical Society Endoscomic Ear Surgery 2022 (EES2022) held in Kyoto, we presented Explainable KANSEI with the theme of visualizing sensitivity.

Physical store analysis activities at the Sensory Marketing Experimental Research Group (MCEI)

The ``Sensory Marketing Experiment Study Group'' (MCEI), where experts from various fields, universities, and companies work together to research marketing, conducted an experiment in sales promotion marketing using robots and POP at a large physical store in Ibaraki Prefecture. In this process, we conducted optimal sales floor design and improvement activities through line-of-sight analysis based on Explainable KANSEI.
