Customer challenges

The customer's challenge is how to make showcase sales proposals and at the same time strengthen the customer's sales capabilities. is the point. When proposing a hot snack case to a major convenience store chain, in order to make a more effective bid than our competitors, we needed to propose a specific display that would maximize overall sales of hot snacks.

Results obtained

By utilizing the attention analysis of Explainable KANSEI, we scientifically proposed a display of hot snacks that stood out and looked delicious, and we succeeded in winning the bid.

Background of introduction

Nippon Heater Equipment Co., Ltd. operates a business that includes product development, manufacturing, sales, and maintenance of beverage and food heating equipment, which are familiar at convenience stores. We have recently introduced Explainable KANSEI to quantitatively show the selling points of hot snack products and make more effective proposals to customers.

Improvement flow

1. "looks delicious"
Extracting elements that look like

In order to identify the elements that sell hot snacks, we extracted design elements from 20 patterns of hot snack display images.

A panel of 17 experts used the rating scale method to define a reference point that looks "tasty."

Afterwards, we conducted a subject experiment on each image data with a general panel of 74 people, quantified the degree to which it looked delicious using the paired comparison method, and compared it with Explainable KANSEI analysis data.

2. design analysis

As a result of extracting design elements from each display image and analyzing all design elements using Explainable KANSEI, there is a positive correlation between the degree of conspicuousness in the attention analysis and the "looks delicious" index in the subject experiment. It turns out that.

3. Check verification results

In an experiment using convenience store hot snacks, it was verified that the index of conspicuousness, which is a function of factors such as orientation, number, and size of the product, directly hits "looks delicious", making it possible to effectively implement display proposals to customers. I was able to do.
